We have an in-house state of the art laboratory for diagnostic testing which gives us test results right away. We can run complete CBC and blood chemistry panels, urinalysis to check for kidney and bladder health, and fecal analysis for the presence of parasites and giardia.

Digital X-Ray

Did you know that less than 10% of all veterinary hospitals offer digital x-ray?  Unlike traditional x-rays which require 10-15 minutes to develop films, digital x-rays provides us with an instantaneous picture allowing us to gain better positioning and technique.  This is optimal for patients who may not stay still for prolonged periods of time (due to nervousness or pain associated with recent trauma) and allows for diagnostic x-rays.  In addition, some procedures like OFA or PennHIP certification require anesthesia in order to obtain diagnostic radiographs.  Having rapid results SIGNIFICANTLY reduces the time your pet will need to be under anesthesia.  The clarity and quality of digital x-rays compared to traditional x-rays is superb and can often be the difference between making or missing a diagnosis! 

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a painless, non-invasive and safe tool allowing us to visualize internal organs when further evaluation is needed. We are proud to use the services of Dr. Kristen Pampel who has a special interest in ultrasound and has extensive expertise in this area throughout her many years of experience!

PennHIP Screening

We also provide PennHIP screening for canine hip dysplasia, the abnormal or faulty development of the hip. Abnormal development of the hip causes excessive wear of the joint cartilage during weight bearing, eventually leading to the development of arthritis (degenerative joint disease). PennHIP assesses the quality of the canine hip and quantitatively measures canine hip joint laxity. It is more accurate in its ability to predict the onset of osteoarthritis than traditional methods of evaluation (OFA). Click for more information about PennHIP.
